Aeroflot will sign contracts with Aviacapital Service to buy 52 Russian-made airplanes in September, the airline’s CEO Sergei Aleksandrovskiy said in an interview with Vedomosti published on August 14.
He specified that it is about deliveries of 34 short-haul SJ100 airplanes and 18 medium-haul MS-21 airplanes. Alexandrovsky did not name the amount of the contract.
The SJ100 airliners will be delivered to Aeroflot’s subsidiary airline Russia. The first two aircraft are to be delivered before the end of the year.
Aeroflot will receive the first MC-21 aircraft by the end of 2024. The company is also considering to sign contracts for the delivery of Tu-214.
According to Kommersant, the cost of the new MS-21 aircraft with delivery in 2028-2030 is estimated at $42-45 million.
