“Everyone talks about the shortage of personnel – and no one knows about it better than me,” the minister said.
According to Pistorius, recruiting and retaining soldiers in the Bundeswehr poses a challenge for the ministry. This is evidenced by the downward trend in the number of candidates going into the army. Thus, this year this indicator was 7% lower than the corresponding number of the last year.
However, according to the ministry, there are signs indicating that the negative trend can be reversed, as evidenced by a 16% increase in the number of requests for career counseling in the Bundeswehr.
