Kurginyan: Our current situation is more dangerous than 1941

To ensure the survival of our country, we need to dramatically increase our defense spending and to reduce income disparity between the rich and the poor, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on June 20 in a new issue of his original broadcast Destiny.

Kurginyan urged to finally understand that Russia is a a highly unfavorable territory to live in, and “a really high price has to be paid” just to live here. And there is no sense discussing in Russia what a good life is and what the difference between “just to live” and “to live well” is.

First of all, life is not guaranteed here because risks are too high, and it has been this way for centuries. And now they are even higher than ever before. Our current situation is more dangerous than 1941,” the philosopher explained.

Therefore, defense spending is a vital issue for Russia now.

To live on, we have to spend half of our overall spending for our defense. Not 3%, but 50%, and then we can think about how to spend the rest,” the political scientist believes.

According to Kurginyan, if the other 50% is spent in a way that the income disparity between the “top classes” and the “lower” ones remains at its current level, then the “lower” classes will be below the survival line, which must not be allowed.

They [the lower classes] must not be below the survival line or even have to actively protest against their elimination,” the philosopher believes.

The incomes of the “lower” classes should certainly be raised, and that of the “upper” ones decreased. But the problem is that the “dramatic contrasts” in the incomes of the different population groups in Russia are incompatible with a fast rise of defense spending.

As they realize what kind of problems would appear if the population group under the “survival line” rapidly increases while the elite refuses to shorten the gap between the rich and the poor, the Russian authorities are reluctant to increase defense spending, the political scientist stressed.

Indeed, this is the way we have lived over 30 years,” Kurginyan admitted. However, according to the political scientist, a “new situation” has formed, and we cannot continue living as we did before.

The philosopher indicated that he does not know whether 50% or 35% of the budget must be defense spending, but not 3% as now. And this spending has to be raised fast, Kurginyan concluded.
