The US State Department, in the spirit of the “Ministry of Truth” from George Orwell’s novel 1984, demanded that leading media outlets conduct subversive information work against Russia, said Sergey Naryshkin, head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), the agency’s press service reported on July 10.
“The US State Department has finally turned into George Orwell’s ‘Ministry of Truth’ and is actually dictating to the American media what exactly they should write and say,” Naryshkin said.
He added that according to the SVR, the leading US media holdings, such as AT&T, Comcast Corporation, Graham Media Group, Nash Holdings, Newsweek Publishing, and The New York Times Company, have been sent relevant instructions.
According to the SVR head, all this is aimed at instilling the idea of the necessity of forceful struggle against the state into the minds of Russian citizens. Special emphasis in this work is placed on young people and teenagers.
According to Naryshkin, Antony Blinken and Victoria Nuland contributed to turning the US State Department into a “stinking landfill of information garbage.”
