Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Indian PM Narendra Modi on June 30, the Kremlin press service reports.
The conversation was initiated by the Indian side. First, Modi discussed with Putin the June 24 events in Russia.
“In connection with the events of June 24, Narendra Modi expressed understanding and support for the decisive actions of the Russian leadership to protect law and order, ensure stability in the country and the security of its citizens,” the report says.
In addition, the parties discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation. Both leaders noted that it’s important to continue the implementation of major joint projects. They also noted a significant increase in mutual trade.
During the conversation, the parties paid special attention to interaction through the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the G20, which are currently chaired by India. They also discussed cooperation in BRICS.
Modi briefed Putin on the results of his international contacts, including a recent visit to Washington. The leaders of Russia and India also discussed the situation around Ukraine.
It is also noted that the conversation was meaningful and constructive. The sides reaffirmed the Special and Privileged Strategic Nature of Partnership between Russia and India.
