The organizers of the rebellion betrayed the name and glory of the Wagner group soldiers, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his address on June 24.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said: “The name and glory of the heroic Wagner soldiers, who fought in the SMO and gave their lives for the unity of the Russian world, have been betrayed by those who organized the rebellion.

In the address, Putin said that the ambitious personal interests of the rebellion’s organizers led them to betray Russia, the people of Russia “and the cause for which the soldiers and commanders of the Wagner group fought and died side by side with our other units and detachments“.

In addition, Putin said that “the heroes who liberated Soledar and Artemovsk, cities and towns in Donbass, fought and gave their lives for Novorossiya, for the unity of the Russian world. Their name and glory have also been betrayed by those who are trying to organize a rebellion, pushing the country toward anarchy and fratricide, to defeat, and ultimately to capitulation.

In the evening of June 23, Head of the Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin accused the Defense Ministry of rocket attack on the rear camps of the Wagner PMC. The Defense Ministry denied these allegations. Prigozhin persisted with these arguments and continued to make threats.

The FSB opened a case about the calls for armed rebellion, the relevant agencies report the situation to Putin, and additional security measures are introduced in the regions.
