Both Russian and US miscalculations led to the current war of attrition in Ukraine, political scientist, philosopher, and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on June 9 on the program Conversation with a Sage on Radio Zvezda.
The political scientist stressed that it is very important to understand what is happening now in Ukraine. Kurginyan explains that one should avoid both excessive complimentary and “allegedly patriotic” opposition when analyzing the situation.
The expert pointed to the mobilization in Russia, which was announced long after the outbreak of hostilities. This means that something did not go as expected and some mistakes were made in planning. Kurginyan suggested telling the people the truth about this mistake.
“So let us say, ‘Yes, we miscalculated. Yes, we thought it would be some kind of neo-Crimean scenario, but something completely different emerged. Yes, this mistake was made if mobilization was announced later, not immediately. Yes, indeed we bogged down to some extent. Yes, someone was pushing us to something with their unfounded confidence, and the Americans dragged us into it because they wanted to destroy us on this territory’,” Kurginyan said.
But it was not only the Russians who made a mistake, the political analyst continued. He noted that the US elite also made a big mistake. This is the truth that is also hushed up and needs to be told to the people.
“Let’s us be clear, the Americans made such a huge mistake that it is even hard to imagine. Because when they dragged us there, they thought that the Russian drunken Vanya, whom they had corrupted with vices and so on, would run away at once, that the generals would sell everything, that the army was totally incapable, that Ukraine would smash it all in a few months, and on the wave of this disaster the government would be dismantled and the country would be dismembered. But this did not happen,” Kurginyan explained.
The political scientist said that the Americans are “horrified” by how badly they were mistaken in their preliminary assessment of the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
The result of these mutual mistakes of Russia and the United States became a war of attrition, Kurginyan stated. He added that the Americans do not want to get out of this long war of attrition, while Russia cannot.
