The concept of Russia’s integration into Europe to displace the USA dominated in the elite of the USSR after Stalin’s death, and it remained mainstream in the post-Soviet era, the leader of the Essence of Time social movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on June 6 in a new issue of his author’s broadcast Destiny.
The philosopher indicated that many people have realized over the recent years that this concept was a mistake, because it assumed that Europe was independent, but reality has demonstrated that there is no independence there at all. However, after many years the dream about the integration became a creed.
“We are witnessing a pivotal failure of a creed, a concept, something much greater than a rational consideration, something that possessed the minds of, maybe, and all of the elite, but a really major part of it. This concept has failed! It has been ruined, turned into ashes! But its believers are still alive!” Kurginyan said.
He noted that the concept possessed the minds of members of our elite over decades, and any arguments could only take place regarding a policy within this paradigm. This means that the elite will not be able to easily abandon its views, the philosopher stressed. Meanwhile, those who have not left their dreams about integrating into the West behind still control huge resources.
“Tremendous informal structures still exist, which think this way, speak this language, act in this direction, because they cannot act in a different direction, and they do not want to,” the political scientist described the situation.
Kurginyan stressed that this is a tragic situation in which all the people in Russia have to live.
