The USA has withdrawn troops from Afghanistan not because of its weakness, but with specific intentions, which are now beginning to come to light, according to a summary from the theater of war published in The Essence of Time newspaper, no. 537.
Andrei Serenko, head of the Center for Afghan Policy Studies, said that Iran needed to conduct its hybrid special military operation against the Taliban (organization banned in Russia).
He notes that the Afghan Islamists are purposefully strengthening the military and political pressure on Tehran, intending to gradually destroy the image of Iran and dilute its authority as a specific regional power, and at the same time to construct the image of themselves as a new center of power in the region.
Serenko emphasizes that these goals of the Taliban (organization banned in Russia) objectively coincide with the interests of Iran’s geopolitical and regional opponents, including the United States.
“The USA left Afghanistan not because they weakened or decided to save money on supporting Ashraf Ghani’s regime, but because it was more profitable to do so in the new geopolitical situation. And now, nearly two years after the capture of Kabul, Washington’s intentions have begun to come to light,” The Essence of Time editorial reads.
