Russia missed an opportunity to manage processes in the post-Soviet space with “soft power,” and now it has to pay for it with blood, philosopher, political scientist, and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on March 25 in an interview for the YouTube channel Metametrica.
Kurginyan noted that he has seen enough “officials with boring faces who only want to work with the elites [in the post-Soviet countries].” Most of them are serving their time in the office or “laundering money.”
It is this kind of bureaucracy that has lost not only Ukraine, but also Armenia, where absolutely anti-Russian forces have come to power.
“If it [bureaucracy] had worked with the activists in Armenia properly, could it be that Protestant sects had seized power there in this way? Here is this soft power, which all the time we talk about … We lost it all and now pay for these losses in blood,” the political scientist said.
According to the political scientist, the reason for this attitude is the collapse of the Soviet Union – it was allowed to happen because “they wanted to throw off the cross of the empire.”
“They wanted to throw off the cross of the empire. And now, this cross is put on our shoulders. So how can one carry it?” Essence of Time’s leader concluded.
