Neither the elite nor the society wants to change life in Russia, but they will have to, said political scientist, theater director and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan in an interview to Vyacheslav Manucharov published on March 13 on the YouTube channel of the Manuchi’s Empathy program.
“The address simply says, ‘We will be winning. Everything is fine, we have already taken the right path. We will not change anything here, do not worry. Relax, bastards, sit and listen what I am saying. Everything will be great, you will keep what you have, do not rebel,’” the political scientist described President of Russia Vladimir Putin’s address to the Federal Assembly.
At the same time, the political scientist reminded that in the Russian Empire no one wanted to change anything either. “And this lack of change ultimately turned out to be excessive,” Kurginyan stressed.
He reminded that General of Artillery Manikovsky went to the emperor to present a plan of the Chief Artillery Directorate, but he never was accepted. Bolsheviks like Krasin and Krzhizhanovsky had to implement it. “Later it turned out it was implemented, but what sacrifice did it take? What kind of terror was its price? How can one want that?” Kurginyan wondered.
He noted that during the collapse of the Russian Empire the situation on the globe was absolutely different: World War One was ongoing, and major powers were busy with something else. “In two weeks we will have US helicopters here,” he said about the situation in the event chaos takes place in Russia.
Another reason why changes are unwelcome is that “Putin was hurt at his very heart with the disaster of perestroika. Based on what I know about myself, based on certain assessable inner psychological processes, I can tell something. He was hurt at his heart with the disaster of perestroika. He cannot imagine such a collapse once again, do you understand? And he knows that as soon as you start escalating you will get ‘we are waiting for changes!’” Kurginyan described.
This is why it was said in fact that “we are not waiting for changes,” and this is what makes a consensus between the leader and the social groups. “The word ‘reforms’ now has ‘collapse’ as a synonym. This is why no one wants this, and he feels something in it,” the political scientist stressed.
