A hub for grain exports from Russia is being built in Iran, said Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the Duma International Affairs Committee, at a meeting with Hossein Amir Abdollahian, Foreign Minister of Iran, in Moscow on March 29, Interfax reports.
Discussing the North-South transport corridor, Slutsky said that the largest hub in the region to store grain produced by Russian agricultural producers could be created in the port of Bandar Abbas or Bandar Khomeini.
The countries plan to implement this project independently, but according to Slutsky, they are open to participation in a consortium of third countries.
Slutsky also announced the upcoming visit of presidential aide Igor Levitin to Tehran on April 7 and the subsequent study of the details of this project by Russia.
The conflict with the collective West leads forces Russia to look for new partners. Iran at this historical stage is ready for mutually beneficial cooperation with Russia.
