The fight against the terrorists of the Islamic State (organization banned in Russia) is only a pretext for the US to deploy troops in Syria, Turkish presidential spokesman İbrahim Kalın told journalists on March 25.
“They are trying to be a factor that will destroy the balance of the Russian and Iranian military presence in the SAR. (The fight against terrorists) is just a pretext,” said a spokesman for Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Kalın noted that the US military contingent does not conduct any real combat operations against ISIL (organization banned in Russia) in northern Syria.
