Western Europe stood up under the banners of Hitler, and the campaign in the East was paid by global capital, Belorussian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said on March 22 at a memorial event on the occasion of the Khatyn tragedy.
“We had not emphasized before that most of the countries of Western Europe stood up under the banners of Hitler’s Germany, and world capital paid for this campaign,” Lukashenko said.
According to him, Minsk had previously tried not to remind the children and grandchildren of the war criminals about the crimes of their ancestors. But Belorussia has not forgotten how in 1941 the executioners turned its lands into one big concentration camp.
Lukashenko recalled how western war criminals exterminated entire villages, buried children alive and poisoned villages with poisonous substances. 11 thousand villages was burnt out during the occupation.
80 years ago, Nazi criminals and their accomplices from the 118th Ukrainian security police battalion burned alive 149 residents of the Belorussian village of Khatyn, 75 of whom were children.
