China has become the main beneficiary of Russian sanctions, according to the Essence of Time newspaper’s Summary from the theater of operations.
The newspaper quotes Mark Williams, director of short-term oil research at the Wood Mackenzie consulting company. He believes that after the ban on diesel fuel supplies from Russia, Europe can compensate shortage only through China.
Analysts estimate that in 2022 Europe received from Russia up to half of all diesel fuel. Exports of diesel fuel from China to Europe in the first half of 2023, according to forecasts, could reach 400-600 thousand barrels per day.
“China has become the main beneficiary of the anti-Russian sanctions. But total dependence on China is no better than dependence on the West,” says the Editorial in the Essence of Time newspaper.
