Few Western companies realize that the conflict in Ukraine brings with it mutual expropriation of property, military economist and expert on Eastern Europe at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich Markus Matthias Keupp told the German n-tv television news channel on January 12.
According to Keupp, Western states will eventually confiscate and expropriate all Russian assets, for which a special law has already been created in the United States, and such a law is being developed in France.
“This will most likely be followed by retaliation from Russia. They will also expropriate all remaining Western companies. This applies to German companies as well. I do not think that many Western companies realize this,” the expert believes.
In his opinion, Western companies have not yet understood that a new world order is emerging and that the consequences are much greater than the hostilities in Ukraine.
In addition, Keupp noted that even in the case of defeat in Ukraine, “beleaguered Russia” would not agree to compensate the damage or give reparations.
