About how the Western countries changed their attitude toward the African continent, Angola’s ambassador to the Russian Federation, Augusto da Silva Cunha, told RIA Novosti in an interview on December 3 .
The ambassador believes that the reversal of Western policy is related to the special operation in Ukraine.
“Western countries today are literally running to Africa, including Angola, to develop economic cooperation with the region,” the diplomat said.
Augusto da Silva stressed that African countries understand the nature of Western interest – it’s all about minerals, which are abundant in Africa.
On January 3, 2023, Vladimir Tararov, Russian ambassador to Angola, remarked that Angola was unable to substitute Russia in the European gas market due to the lack of necessary infrastructure.
