Mariinka in the DPR is encircled by Russian troops, with fighting already taking place in the center of the town, assistant to the head of the Ministry of Interior of the Lugansk People’s Republic Vitaly Kiselyov, wrote on his Telegram channel on December 13.
“The city is in encircled, fighting is underway in the center of the twon,” he stressed.
The combat continues, the enemy is resisting, Kiselev noted. He specified that the Russian army took the road to Krasnogorovka, which was used to supply the Ukrainian armed forces in Mariinka, under its control.
Earlier, the acting head of the DPR Denis Pushilin called the Mariinka direction one of the priorities. He confirmed that the fighting is already taking place in the twon itself.
The operation to liberate Marinka began on March 19. It is expected that after the liberation of the city, the Ukrainian army will no longer be able to shell Aleksandrovka, Petrovsky district and the Tekstilshchik neighborhood of Donetsk.
