Electricity tariffs are expected to skyrocket in Germany starting in the New Year, Spiegel reported on November 25.
Gas prices are affecting electricity tariffs and forcing utilities to push prices onto consumers. Electricity prices are expected to rise sharply for many households starting in the New Year. In Köln, electricity supplier Rheinenergy will set tariffs more than twice as high as the January 2022 rates – about 55 euro cents, an increase of 130 percent.
The supplier, when increasing prices, refers to the high costs of electricity. As a result of this policy, 7.3 million have already been affected.
“Compared to last year, prices on electricity exchanges have risen by more than 300 percent, at their peak they have increased more than tenfold. In addition, grid charges are also rising,” the company’s press office reports.
US authorities have implemented electricity benefits for businesses that have moved to the country from other countries.
