The best way to achieve peace in Ukraine is military support for Kiev despite the economic difficulties of the West itself, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in an interview with the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag on November 27.
Stoltenberg acknowledged that supporting Ukraine is expensive for ordinary Europeans. “Rising food and energy bills mean hard times for many households in Europe,” Stoltenberg noted.
Nevertheless, he insisted on maintaining aid to Kiev and praised Berlin’s weapons supplies to Ukraine. “Germany’s decisive support is crucial,” the alliance secretary general stressed.
“We all need to increase our assistance to Ukraine,” Stoltenberg said, stressing that Western assistance will allow Ukraine to defend its “right to self-defense.”
According to the alliance secretary general, military assistance to Ukraine will strengthen its negotiating position. “The best way to support peace is to support Ukraine,” he concluded.
