Reducing human life to pleasures and satisfying one’s own needs, as cultivated by the West, will bring humanity to the brink of extinction, stated political scientist, philosopher, leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan in The Evening with Vladimir Solovyov program on Russia 1 TV channel on October 30.
Kurginyan explained that he really liked it when, at the Valday Club, Russian President Vladimir Putin began quoting the great Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky. Thus, while discussing Western liberal ideology that has changed beyond recognition, Putin recalled the words of the unprincipled characters Shigalyov and Peter Verkhovensky in the novel Demons [also called The Possessed or The Devils – translator’s note], who preached the abolition of culture and limitless despotism, which, according to the president, is what the modern West has come to.
“However, there is also a key phrase [in the novel Demons – note by Rossa Primavera News Agency], which has a geopolitical, historiosophic meaning within this speech. It reads as follows: ‘Only what necessary is necessary – this is our motto.’ The motto of the Shigalyovs. What does this mean? It means that a kind of machine is created which consists of pain and pleasure. It avoids pain and strives for pleasure, and that’s it. This is said to be Man in his entirety,” said the leader of the movement.
According to the philosopher, if necessity, elevated to a cult (“Allow not nature more than nature needs, Man’s life is cheap as beast’s…” King Lear. William Shakespeare – Note by Rossa Primavera News Agency), will reign not only in the United States, but also on the entire planet, humanity will disappear.
Therefore, the analyst explained, all other destructive actions, including various perversions, culturelessness, euthanasia, only confirm the desire of the West to follow the motto of Shigalyov, but are secondary in relation to it.
“This is the degradation of Rome, the degradation of ancient civilization. Every time civilizations die they do the same trick. This is the part of death,” Kurginyan stressed.
“Are we ready to truly say what does it mean to be a living life, what does it mean to oppose civilization of death by this very living life?” – asked the philosopher.
