The West took the path that allows one to call it the enemy of humanity, stated political scientist, philosopher, leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan in The Evening with Vladimir Solovyov program on Russia 1 TV channel on October 20.
The second half of the twentieth century witnessed some radical shifts in the West, says Kurginyan. He explained that back in the middle of the century in the conservative United States, sexual perversion was punished insanely severely.
“How could it be that half a century later the process has turned exactly the other way round? It is definitely someone who has to turn it around: it doesn’t turn around that way naturally on its own,” the analyst explained. In his opinion, it is quite hard to describe in words the side in which the West has turned by using only the postmodern epithet, but postmodernism is certainly relevant.
“All the fundamental ideas that really make it possible to talk about the enemy of humanity were laid there. They were not present in the agenda – but they arose,” noted the political scientist. We are talking about such ideas as the end of History, the end of the Human Project and the end of humanism, the philosopher listed. He stressed that the main philosophers and theorists of the West, and not the so-called “undemocratic regimes” in Russia, China and North Korea, were talking about this.
“This postmodern West really shows what it truly is. And everything that is happening to Man shows that [the West] has definitely taken the path that allows us to really call it the enemy of humanity,” Kurginyan stressed.
The philosopher explained that it is impossible to immediately transform all masses of the population into a new quality, which Western philosophers call posthuman, so the process of transition is stretched out in time.
He also expressed his belief that if the current Western trend prevails in the world, such a world is doomed. The only way not to destroy the world is to set priorities within the main topic – Man, the philosopher believes.
