The United States has a more serious attitude towards a union between Europe and Russia than towards China, said philosopher, political scientist and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on April 22 on The Great Game program on Channel One.
The European political elite of early 1990s still had a dream about becoming free from their dependence on the USA. However, Europe is not sovereign, and the Russian higher political elite has realized this, Kurginyan said.
“[Europe] is moving like a sheep on a lasso in any event,” the political scientist said. He added that the mechanisms of US influence in Europe are not limited to military bases and corruption in the European elite only.
“There is something else. Because they [the USA] hold this very tight,” the leader of Essence of Time stressed. According to Kurginyan, the United States has always looked at Europe as at a closest partner whom it should “befriend to death.”
The USA automatically perceives any state as an enemy that has reached a level from which it can challenge the USA, the philosopher noted. He explained that in this case the ideology or loyalty of the potential enemy make no difference to the USA.
In this sense, the USA has feared a union between Europe and Russia much more than the Chinese threat. “Our raw material resources and their [European] industrial resources, this was believed to be very dangerous,” the political scientist explained.
“A goal of everything that is taking place in Ukraine, in my opinion, is the breakup [of relations between Europe and Russia],” Kurginyan concluded. He believes that the USA will try to twist the Europeans’ arms to strongly undermine their economy.
