Militants of the nationalist battalions in Mariupol who do not plan to surrender are to be eliminated, DPR head Denis Pushilin said on April 16 on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel.
“The tasks are not easy, complex. Those members of, let’s say, the regular army, marines, those who were ready to surrender, they surrendered. The same nationalists, that is, representatives of the nationalist battalions, they apparently do not intend to surrender, so they must be eliminated,” he said.
Now in Mariupol the operation to mop up the city from the Ukrainian army units and the nationalist battalions is continuing. At the moment, the enemy has largely withdrawn to the territory of the Azovstal plant, which is now being actively attacked with artillery and aviation.
Earlier it became known that servicemen of the 36th brigade of the Ukrainian army Marines in the number of more than a thousand people surrendered to the Russian and DPR forces in Mariupol.
