The governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev congratulated the citizens on the Cosmonautics Day on April 12 on his Telegram channel.
“61 years ago, at 09:07 AM Moscow time, the Vostok orbital spaceship started! For the first time in history a man flew in the outer space!” Razvozhaev reminded about the greatest event in the history of space development.
“Even now it is hard to imagine what Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin felt when he saw our planet from outer space,” the governor noted.
He stressed that people all over the world saw a triumph of the whole humanity in Gagarin’s flight.
He reminded that Yuri Gagarin visited Sevastopol on September 21, 1961, together with the number two cosmonaut German Titov. The archive of Sevastopol keeps many documents and photos of this visit.
