The Head of the Russian Investigative Committee Aleksandr Bastrykin held an operational meeting in Donetsk to investigate crimes committed by Ukrainian militants. The press service of the Investigative Committee informed about this on April 7.
It is reported that the head of the Investigative Committee held an offsite operational meeting of the headquarters investigating crimes against civilians and Russian servicemen by militants of the Ukrainian army and nationalist battalions on the territory of the DPR, LPR and Ukraine. Bastrykin was briefed on the first results of the work of the investigative teams investigating the Kiev regime’s crimes against civilians in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.
Since February, employees of the department have opened 146 criminal cases against representatives of the Ukrainian power structures, the press service said.
Investigative bodies of the DPR are investigating more than 34,000 criminal cases of crimes against citizens of the republic. In a number of charges, the perpetrators have already been identified among the commanders of the Ukrainian army and the top leadership of Ukraine. In some criminal cases, there are already detained Ukrainian security forces, including fighters of the nationalist battalions.
The LPR prosecutor’s office is investigating more than 3,000 criminal cases against Ukrainian military and security forces and officials, according to the press service of the Investigative Committee.
Bastrykin instructed to ensure the permanent deployment in the Donbass of employees of the Investigative Committee to “improve the efficiency of work to identify persons involved in war crimes”. The head of the department stressed the importance of collecting testimony on the crimes committed.
“Keeping in mind the prospects of a military tribunal, it is necessary to accumulate the knowledge with which the investigation will come there,” Bastrykin said.
