Some Ukrainian naval mines were torn off by waves and are currently drifting in the Black Sea, the Turkish Navy Forces’ Office of Navigational Hydrography and Oceanography informed said in a statement on March 22.
On March 20, the Bulgarian government warned residents of the Black Sea coast about the danger of ships being hit by Ukrainian naval mines torn off from their anchors by a storm.
The Center for Public Relations (CPR) of the FSB reported that on March 18, the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy issued a coastal warning about the danger associated with the breakage of the cable of naval mines set by the Ukrainian Navy on approaches to ports in the Black Sea. It is specified that the mines could drift toward the Bosphorus and the Mediterranean.
The FSC CLC pointed out that the Ukrainian Armed Forces once again demonstrated a complete disregard for the basics of international law and disregard for human lives, including those of citizens of European Union states.
The Convention on Underwater, Automatically Explosive Mines prohibits anchoring these artifacts to their anchors, as they become unsafe when they are released from their anchors.
