Russian President Vladimir Putin has “crossed the Rubicon” in relations with the West, and this can be seen in his message to the regions, political scientist and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said during a special edition of the Great Game program on Channel One on March 16.
Speaking about the Russian Armed Forces’ special operation in Ukraine, Kurginyan noted that “a one day’s delay” in making the decision to defend Donbass would have cost Russia too much.
According to the political scientist, the Russian president has long been “looking for ways” to cooperate with the West, and he “cared about preserving Ukraine“.
“Nevertheless, he hoped, that they would come to their senses. Somehow. That they would leave some chance for the country. That didn’t happen,” Kurginyan said, describing Putin’s relationship with Western leaders before the conflict in Ukraine.
“And now he has crossed the Rubicon. But not only regarding the issue of Ukraine, but regarding the whole world strategy. And I believe, regarding the whole internal strategy for Russia,” Kurginyan said.
