The flow of refugees from Donbass to Russia is increasing day by day and has already exceeded the number of 300,000 people, representatives of the Russian emergency services said, RIA Novosti reported on March 18.
According to their data, 53,000 people left the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics for Russia in the past week. “As of six o’clock Friday morning, 300,600 people, including 64,800 children, had crossed the border with Russia,” the sources told reporters.
There has been an increase in the flow of refugees. On March 14-15, more than 24,000 people crossed the border between Russia and the DPR and LPR. And on March 16-17, about 30,000 residents of Donbass already arrived in Russia.
The increase in the flow of refugees was due to the unblocking of Mariupol. Immediately after the removal of the blocking perimeter of Ukrainian punitive forces around the city, humanitarian corridors began to operate.
According to Colonel General Mikhail Mizintsev, head of the National Defense Management Center, almost 43,000 people managed to withdraw from Mariupol on March 17. According to his data, the Defense Ministry received about 2.7 million appeals from Ukrainians with requests to take them to Russia.
