The army of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics are encircling a group of the Ukrainian forces near Donetsk, Vostok battalion deputy commander Aleksandr Semyonov told RIA Novosti on March 1.
“Part of the group of the Ukrainian forces has remained, not far adjacent to Donetsk, but gradually the army of the DPR and LPR are encircling these groups,” Semyonov said. According to him, the Ukrainian military near Donetsk is already facing a shortage of fuel, ammunition, and food as a result of being cut off from the means of supply.
This process will intensify when the encirclement finally closes, Semyonov explained. The morale of the Ukrainian army is decreasing day by day, the enemy will soon begin to surrender, the deputy commander of the Vostok added.
“As it was in its time at Stalingrad,” he added.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of a special Russian military operation in Ukraine in response to an appeal for help from the heads of the DPR and LPR. As the president stressed, the purpose of the operation is “to protect people who have been subjected to bullying, genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years.”
