The NATO document on space policy is provocative, said Spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova at a briefing on January 20.
Zakharova also called this document another attempt to legitimize the use of force in outer space.
On January 13, Biden administration’s nominee to serve as assistant secretary of the defense for space policy John Plumb said that the USA must be prepared to a conflict in outer space.
Plumb reported at a session of the US Senate Committee on Armed Services that Russia is a serious space security threat. “Russia views space as a key enabler of US military power” and is developing technologies to “disrupt and destroy US and allied space capabilities in crisis and conflict.”
Also, another threat to the US space forces is China, which, according to Plumb, has not demonstrated yet that it is a responsible space power.
