In order to survive, Russia has to break with the pro-Western faction of its elite, philosopher, political scientist and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on February 16 on the Evening with Vladimir Solovyov TV program on the Russia One channel.
“The existing system still produces its own gravedigger in the face of the part of our society which unambiguously and fanatically believes in the West and serves it like stooges,” Kurginyan said.
This is achieved through pro-Western ideological statements that the authorities make, pro-Western education, and civil service selection criteria promoting officials with pro-Western sentiments.
A major part of the Russian elite is pro-Western, and it is living a “hybrid” and “two-faced” life, living both in Russia and in the West. “We cannot expect that we will win until we break with this,” Kurginyan believes.
As a metaphor, the philosopher used the myth of Hercules defeating the giant Antaeus, Whenever Hercules dropped Antaeus on the ground during their fight, Antaeus would receive power of his mother, the goddess of the Earth. Finally, Hercules lifted Antaeus high in the air and suffocated him there.
“Isn’t it time for us to use the Hercules scenario instead of the Antaeus scenario? And maybe then we will have a reasonable life, a decent life, without the feeling that the enemy is at our gate?” the leader of Essence of Time concluded.
