Increasing the combat effectiveness of the Donbass armed forces is the main task in preparation for an escalation in military confrontation with Ukraine, political scientist and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on February 12 on the Politkuhnya program on the Donetsk TK Union channel.
The political scientist is convinced that Ukraine will escalate the military confrontation in Donbass by all means. Therefore, the DPR and LPR must in all possible ways improve the combat effectiveness of their armed forces.
“By rearming, and raising army morale, and [strengthening] discipline, and permanent combat readiness, and finally, [improving] fortifications. You have to prepare for that practically. Right now and tomorrow,” said Kurginyan.
At the same time, the expert stressed that all preparations will become useless if the spirit of the residents of Donbass will be damaged by whining and low spirits.
“Look at Armenia’s experience. How the spirit was damaged, and what it led to,” said the political scientist.
Kurginyan recited an excerpt from a poem by the Soviet war veteran poet Boris Slutsky [translated as a plain text – translator’s note],

Under an unfurled red banner
We found our way, and our unbending consciousness
showed reality the way.
However, the emphasis on the strength of the spirit does not replace the concern for other components of life in the Donbass, such as the economic development.
“It is not necessary to have one contradict the other. Butdo not forget about the spirit,” Kurginyan explained.
