The new White House administration and the Democratic Party are working to destroy “Trumpism” politically, American studies expert and political analyst Dmitry Drobnitsky said on the Vesti FM radio broadcast on February 11.
“It is very important for the new US administration to win now, to try to ensure that no ‘Trumpism’ and Trump personally never disturb their peaceful electoral exchange of all sorts of presidential regalia again, because it is very difficult to talk about alternation of power there, especially looking at the Biden administration. So that no one disturbs them, they have to destroy these beginnings of resistance to the global elites,” Drobnitsky said.
He noted that the Trump trial tarnishes the US reputation hard, because right after one wins, one takes whoever they defeated and starts a trial over him. “That occurs not even in every banana republic,” the expert noted.
“It turns out that double standards are also possible in US domestic politics. You can call some rioters legitimate peaceful protesters, and others engaged in something similar – domestic terrorists,” the political scientist noted.
The US Senate began the trial of former President Donald Trump on charges of inciting insurrection. After 8 hours of debate, the US Senate voted for a resolution confirming the jurisdiction of the Senate trial over Trump.
As a result of the US presidential election, which took place in November 2020, Joe Biden became president of the United States. At the same time more than 70 million Americans voted for Trump, which is a record for a candidate who lost the election. Trump supporters in the USA believe that Biden came to power at the expense of electoral irregularities, including the mail-in voting procedure.
