An Armenian political course that would put the national interests of its people at the forefront is more acceptable to Russia than the current pro-Western course of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, said the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist Sergey Kurginyan on November 15 on the air of the Evening with Vladimir Solovyov TV program on Russia One channel.
The leader of the Essence of Time movement pointed to the likelihood of scoring a major geopolitical win with reaching an armistice in Nagorno-Karabakh region, which could upset the game Turkey and Great Britain are playing in Transcaucasia.
“We absolutely do not need the Armenia that exists now, however, it is preparing for a transformation. In this regard, a national Armenian revolution, not even a pro-Russian one, suits Russia quite well, because everyone has seen these huge rallies, which speak only in support of the Russians,” said Sergey Kurginyan.
Pashinyan’s betrayal of Nagorno-Karabakh gave rise to a feeling of endless national humiliation, and it has pushed the Armenian political opposition towards Russia, pointed out the political scientist. This moment should not be missed in the same way as the moment when Pashinyan came to power was missed.
“Now comes a moment, a golden opportunity to make something work, because it’s not us doing something in Armenia, it’s the insulted national pride and national identity. The scale of Pashinyan’s betrayal has stunned the people and it may lead to Armenia’s transformation. And this is the only link that we can wrestle from the British grip in the Caucasus,” stressed Kurginyan.
The Russian authorities have about a year to implement their plans to counter Britain and Turkey on the southern border, pointed out the analyst.
“If we don’t seriously pull it out in the coming year, then this British trap will close. And it will immediately move to the North Caucasus and Crimea using Turkey. To me, this is the key importance of the moment ” said Kurginyan.
