The Ukrainian military violated the ceasefire three times over 24 hours at the contact line in the Donetsk People’s Republic, the DPR representative at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Ceasefire (JCCCC) reported on October 5.
According to the representative, on October 4 the Ukrainian military shelled the villages of Leninskoye, Spartak, and Dzerzhinskoye using grenade launchers and large-caliber machine guns.
Observers reported the shelling from the positions of the 36th Brigade of the Ukrainian navy at 10.50 am (Moscow time zone) near the village of Vodyanoye. Two grenades were fired from a GP-25 under-barrel grenade launcher at the village of Leninstoye. At 6.15 pm (Moscow time zone) the servicemen of the 54th Brigade of the Ukrainian army opened fire using large-caliber machine guns from near Avdeevka against the village of Spartak.
At 8.40 pm (Moscow time zone) the servicemen of the 36th Brigade of the Ukrainian navy fired two grenades from a GP-25 to the village of Dzerzhinskoye.
The JCCCC observers reported three incidents of shelling on October 3 by the Ukrainian military. They shelled the villages of Kominternovo and Spartak firing three grenades from grenade launchers.
The Ukrainian side blocked the peace talks and undermined the implementation of the additional package of measures for the control of ceasefire signed on July 23, 2020.
The members of the Verkhovna Rada (the Ukrainian parliament) blocked the Minsk talks by their decree on local elections with a provision of elections in Donbass violating the Minsk agreements.
Also, the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that the peace with the Donbass republics would only be achieved if they fully surrender.
The head of the Ukrainian President’s Office Andrey Yermak said that the Minsk talks were consultative and not legally binding for the Ukrainian side, and he said that the Ukrainian delegates were social activists having no right to talk on behalf of the state.
