Moscow will insist on implementing the agreements set forth in the Minsk Agreements to resolve the situation in southeastern Ukraine in the interests of the Ukrainian people, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on October 5 at a meeting with members of the Association of European Businesses (AEB) in Russia.
At the same time, the EU links the Minsk agreements implementation to the Russian relations normalization, noted the minister. Russia insists on the agreements implementation “not for the sake of lifting the EU sanctions”, stressed Lavrov.
Moscow believes that coming to terms of the agreement “is, first of all, in the interests of the Ukrainian people, who are close to us and suffering from what is happening,” said the diplomat.
He stressed that under the circumstances, we can say that the EU encouraged and continues to encourage the Kiev authorities, who came to power through an anti-constitutional coup. At the same time, European countries completely ignore the facts that “those who did it put anti-Russian sentiment (or Russophobia) at the center of their policy,” said the minister.
Since 2014, the EU “brought down the entire multi-level architecture of cooperation, which was developed between Brussels and Moscow,” said Lavrov.Russia’s top diplomat reminded that this system included various summits and dozens of sectoral dialogues.
