Tens of thousands of protesters against the health measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus gathered in the center of Berlin, Bild reports on August 29.
Some 18 thousands of people have come to Friedrichstrasse and to the Brandenburg Gate in order to express their discontent with government-imposed restrictions due to COVID-19. The police are detaining people over there, while amassing its additional forces and water-cannons. The German media note that the country has not seen such numerous manifestations for last 15 years.
Earlier, the Berlin Administrative Court annulled the ban on mass events, which had been imposed by the Berlin Police, for one day – August 29.
