Lenin’s heritage is important for Russia, because he made a grand attempt to fulfill humanity’s dream by building a fairer society, writer Andrey Dmitriev said in an interview on April 7 with a Rossa Primavera News Agency correspondent.
“Lenin’s heritage is important to us for its grandiose attempt to realize humanity’s dream, to build a just society,” Dmitriev believes.
He noted that Lenin is still perceived by people of different countries as “a symbol of humanity’s universal dream of justice,” and that this dream is now sorely lacking.
April 22 of this year will mark the 150th anniversary of Vladimir Lenin’s birth. He led the Bolshevik party, which carried out the Great October Socialist Revolution in Russia in 1917.
Background
Russia celebrates the 150th anniversary since the birth of Vladimir Lenin, one of the key figures in its history. Some consider him savior of Russia, who has managed to get the country out of the chaos, while others talk about “a bomb to Russian statehood”.
One still hears anti-Soviet curses of the Cold War, while primitive pseudo-Soviet slogans are being reproduced. At the same time, there is a growing demand in society for a real rethinking of the Soviet heritage.
