The Russian military notes a yearly increase in the number of high-tech computer attacks on its information infrastructure, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said during a speech to the Federation Council on March 25.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, there has been a yearly increase in the number of information attacks by 12% over the past three years. Attacks are made from abroad. “Over the past three years, the information infrastructure of the armed forces has been subjected to more than 25 thousand high-tech computer attacks from abroad,” Shoigu said.
Shoigu also noted that the Russian Armed Forces are ready to repel acts of aggression aimed at the military’s information structure. At the same time, the state of affairs in this area shows that the information space “has become another theater of war,” the Defense Minister believes. The infrastructure of the Russian Armed Forces itself shows a high degree of stability, including in terms of command and control.
