Kurginyan: It was not just fear in Sanzhary, but something of beastly, legitimized by Maidan

28.02.2020, Moscow.

The mass riots in Novyye Sanzhary, where Ukrainians have gone insane with fear of the epidemic, are manifesting the very same beastly anti-human energy that was legitimized on Kiev’s Maidan during the coup d’état, Sergey Kurginyan, leader of the Essence of Time movement, said on the air of the Evening with Vladimir Solovyov TV program on the Russia One channel on February 25.

The topic of discussion was the mass riots in the Ukrainian village of Novyye Sanzhary, where local residents met their fellow citizens, who were evacuated from China after the coronavirus outbreak, by throwing stones, brandishing sticks, and burning tires. One of the Ukrainian guests said in the studio that common fear caused such a sharp reaction.

Kurginyan disagreed with this explanation. ” Human fear is one thing, but the fear of the beast is different. And a human being turns into a beast when everything pertaining to humanity vanishes,” the expert explained.

He noted that a human being is ready to get over his fear to help a sick person. “As long as a human being is afraid, but remains human, he is compassionate. He understands that they are his fellow citizens. He loves them, and he makes a sacrifice. He somehow protects himself, but he also accepts people with love. Because these people are suffering,” stressed Kurginyan.

Another thing is when the desire arises no to help sick people, but to destroy them. “When one starts howling like this, one is not human anymore. This is another state. And this is not a human state; exactly this must be examined and understood. And it must be treated somehow,” the political scientist believes.

Kurginyan noted that the Ukrainian authorities, who are now indignant at the belligerents from Novyye Sanzhary, do not condemn the very same belligerents from the Maidan, but on the contrary, glorify them as heroes. Therefore, the Ukrainian authorities will not be able to fight those forces that they themselves have legalized. “Dehumanization has been sanctioned. Did you sanction it there, on the Maidan? This is what will destroy you,” Kurginyan stressed.

On February 20, people who were evacuated from China were taken to a sanatorium near the Ukrainian village of Novyye Sanzhary. All the people who arrived were healthy, but according to the established rules, they had to be subjected to two weeks of quarantine before going home.

The local residents decided that visitors would be the source of an epidemic and began to oppose the accommodation of evacuees in the local sanatorium. Protests rapidly escalated into riots and clashes with the police.

Background

45 Ukrainian citizens and 27 foreigners were evacuated to Ukraine from the Wuhan in China, which is ravaged by the coronavirus epidemic. They were sent for medical supervision to the Novyye Sanzhary medical center in the town of the same name in the Poltava region of Ukraine for two weeks.

Local residents went out to try to prevent the evacuees from being accommodated in their town. The protests resulted in clashes with the police.
