Preserving the memory of the Great Patriotic War, in the long run, may be futile without creating a new language to describe reality, said the chief editor of REGNUM News Agency’s analytical department, Yuri Baranchik, on February 5 at a roundtable discussion entitled “Who and how distorts the history of the Second World War” at REGNUM, a Rossa Primavera News Agency correspondent reports.
The analyst noted that the current attempts to rewrite the history of World War II and label the USSR as a guilty party along with Nazi Germany, are aimed at preparing the preconditions for a new aggression. It is for this purpose, Baranchik is sure, that steps are being taken to dehumanize a potential enemy, who is being presented as a “totalitarian” or even an “animal”.
Its policy in other areas indicates similar plans of the West, first of all, in the economic sphere. For example, the United States plans to impose new sanctions against the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline project, as well as companies cooperating with Russia in its framework.
“What is it? Is it democratic, are these the demands of the market, a free hand?” he noted.
“No, it is absolutely strict totalitarian control of opponents so that they do not develop their own economy. This is actually economic war,” he added.
These attacks on the history and economy of Russia, which were not possible in the time of the Soviet Union, show that modern Russia does not have the same potential as the Soviet Union had, Baranchik pointed out.
“How do we plan to survive in ten years? Well, we`ll celebrate 75 years. What’s next?”, asked Baranchik, referring to the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
According to the analyst, Moscow is playing the “old paradigm”, while the West has been playing the “new paradigm” for several years, which makes it necessary to switch to new ways of explaining the world.
