The UN General Assembly Third Committee for social and humanitarian issues adopted a draft resolution proposed by Russia on combating the glorification of Nazism, RIA Novosti reported on November 8.
121 countries voted in favor of the resolution proposed by Russia, 55 countries abstained, and two countries voted against it: the USA and Ukraine.
During the consultation on drafting this document, the Ukrainian delegation expressed a collaborationist position, stating that “no one can ever be blamed” for collaborating with Nazism.
The adopted document recommends countries to adopt amendments to their education laws in order not to allow the rewriting of the outcomes of World War Two or any forms of denying the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during this war.
Starting from 2014, the USA and Ukraine have consistently voted in the UN against resolutions (with some EU countries abstaining) on combating the glorification of Nazism, which express concern over the expansion of neo-Nazi movements throughout the world as well as the glorification of former Waffen-SS members.
