The US military is aware that terrorists hide in the Rukban refugee camp in north-eastern Syria, the Director of the Department of Information and Press of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova said, RT reported on August 23.
According to the Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman, militants from the ISIL (organization banned in Russia) and the Jabhat al-Nusra (organization banned in Russia) groups are staying in the camp with their heavy weapons, using the camp residents as a human shield. There may be hundreds of terrorists there.
Zakharova stressed that the camp is located close to the US base near al-Tanf, and there is no doubt that the militants are staying there with their consent.
On August 2, the Director of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Sergey Rudskoy expressed the same opinion.
