Damascus condemns the US’ intention to create “border security forces” on Syria’s territory, the Syrian Foreign Ministry said on January 15, RIA Novosti reports.According to Syrian authorities, this is an act of open aggression against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria. The Foreign Ministry said that the US’ intention to create “armed gangs” in the eastern border territories is a “rude violation of international law“.
According to Syrian ministry, such US actions are destructive to the process of normalizing the situation, and display “hostility towards Arab nations“.
According to media reports, the international anti-terrorist coalition led by the United States intends to set up the so-called border security forces in the north-eastern part of Syria. These units will be providing security services with the their numbers reaching approximately 30,000 personnel.
