Liquidation of siege consequences and infrastructure restoration have begun in Syrian Deir ez-Zor that was liberated in the beginning of September, TASS reports on September 16.
Recently, bakery equipment has been transported here from Damascus. Along that the production of fresh bakery goods started, which locals haven’t seen since the terrorists besieged the city.
“Our children haven’t seen fresh fruits and clean drinking water for three years. Many people were starving. We have received a lot of help lately that came from the Syrian government and our Russian friends, including medicine, water, food and fuel”, — said Muhammad Ibrahim Samra, the governor of Deir ez-Zor province,
Now the Syrian Army delivers food by trucks, but not so long ago the humanitarian aid could only be dropped off by airplanes flying over the city.
Bashar Assaf, a doctor of a city hospital, said that medicine, bandages and, most importantly, more experienced colleagues appeared in the city after it was liberated. The city’s hospitals await eagerly the temporary visits of Russian military doctors. The city lacks surgeons and anesthesiologist.
In addition, the militants had fully destroyed the ambulance fleet, and the Syrian government will ship a large number of specialized vehicles in the nearest future.
SAR military and Russian air forces are developing an offensive operation around Deir ez-Zor. Terrorists are currently pushed 5-7 kilometers to the East of the city to the opposite riverbank of Euphrates.
On September 9, the Syrian Army broke the siege of Deir ez-Zor with support of Russian Aerospace Forces. This has become the most significant victory of government forces for more than 3 years.
