Latin American nations are ready to defend Venezuela if something happens, stated the President of Bolivia, Evo Morales on June 6 during a visit to Caracas, RT reports.
Morales reminded about the unity of the Venezuelan and Bolivian peoples in his speech, emphasized the common revolutionary traditions of the two countries – the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela and the socialist revolution in Bolivia.
The Venezuelan parliament, the majority in which belongs to opposition parties, impeached the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, in January 2017. Back then the Supreme Court blocked that decision; however, there has been an escalation of protest activity in the country. The opposition declared that it ceases the dialogue with the President. After the Supreme court passed the decision strengthening Maduro’s positions and limiting the opposition in April 2017, the latter demanded re-election of the Court members.
Both supporters and opponents of the incumbent President Maduro rally in mass protests. More than 50 people have already been killed during the confrontation.
