Yesterday, the Ukrainian army shelled along the whole front line and made breakthrough attempts at certain parts of the front.
There were no such intensive shellings for over a month since the times, when the Ukrainian army made a breakthrough attempt at Svetlodarsk bulge near Debaltsevo town.
The locals informed that the Ukrainian army shelled the northern and north-western suburbs of Gorlovka city, Zaytsevo village and Debaltsevo town. The shellings were conducted from Svetlodarsk town.
At 8 AM, the Ukrainian army started a preparatory shelling of the positions of Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) People’s Militia near Avdeevka industrial zone using 152mm and 122mm artillery, as well as 82mm and 120mm mortars. Within just a few hours, around 1,000 tank, artillery and mortar shells were fired at the positions of DPR People’ Militia. Then, the Ukrainian army together with the militants of “Right Sector” (organization banned in Russia – Editor) attacked the positions. A unit under the command of Ivan Andreevich Balakay (callsign Grek) was sent to support the militiamen. The offensive was repulsed, but the Commander Grek was fatally wounded in the combat.
During a combat near Avdeevka industrial zone, the Ukrainian army lost 15 people killed and over 20 injured. Also, the Ukrainian units came under the fire barrage of “Right Sector” mortars and lost 5 people killed and 10 injured.
The Ukrainian army shelled Donetsk and Yasinovataya water filtration plants, “Yasinovatsky” checkpoint, Yakovlevka township, Makeevka town. At Donetsk water filtration plant, one of the water treatment facilities was damaged due to a hit of 122mm shell. Yasinovataya water filtration plant and Yakovlevka township were left without electricity. Two houses were damaged in Makeevka town.
Late in the night, the suburbs of Kievsky district of Donetsk city were shelled by the units of 72nd Independent Motorized Infantry Brigade and 55th Independent Air Mobile Brigade using 152mm and 122mm artillery as well as 120mm and 82mm mortars.
The units of the 92nd Independent Motorized Infantry Brigade stationed near Peski village shelled Kuybyshevsky district of Donetsk city using 120mm mortars.
On the Donetsk direction, the Ukrainian army shelled Vasilevka, Krutaya Balka villages, Verkhnekalmiusskaya filtration plant, the area of former Donetsk airport and “Volvo-Center”, Mineralnoye, Putilovka, Spartak, Trudovskiye, Aleksandrovka, Staromikhaylovka villages and Dokuchaevsk town.
On the south part of the front, the Ukrainian punitive forces shelled Leninskoye, Dzerzhinskoye, Sakhanka, Kominternovo, Bezimennoye, Oktyabr, Novaya Tavriya, and Zaichenko villages. Several houses were damaged in the shellings.
The information about the victims is being specified. DPR People’s Militia reported one serviceman killed and one injured. A civilian was severely wounded to the hand by shrapnel.
DPR recon informed that the Kiev junta punitive forces are planning to shell several Donetsk region villages under their control using multiple launch rocket systems in order to accuse DPR People’s Militia in these shellings.
According to updated information, during 28th January, the Ukrainian military criminals violated the ceasefire 1,049 times along the whole contact line. 14 152mm and 122mm artillery shells, 10 tank shells, 367 120mm and 82mm mortar shells as well as 583 grenades of various calibers were fired at DPR territories. Infantry fighting vehicles and small arms were used.
