Lavrov: Hope for restoration of unipolar world order is an illusion

25.03.2022, Moscow.

The West’s hopes of restoring a unipolar world order are illusions, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told reporters on March 25.

According to Lavrov, international relations are now in a state of strong tension, because the West seeks to maintain its global dominance. However, according to the Russian minister, such hopes are illusory.

Previously, Lavrov noted that the events unfolding in Ukraine were necessary for the West to create a new world order. The politician pointed out that about ten years ago Western countries began to use the term “rules-based world order” instead of the term “international law.” However, there are no rules, but the West dictates them in each individual case.

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry is convinced that all these changes and the situation in Ukraine are necessary for Western countries to fully restore the unipolar world order.
