A motor rally dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War took place in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, the press service of the Russian Embassy in the Bolivarian Republic reported on May 3.

The event, held on Thursday, became a symbol of the living bond between the Russian and Venezuelan peoples, united by history and a shared desire for justice and peace, the statement reads.

Around 40 motorcyclists took part in the rally. The route ran through the central streets of Caracas and ended at Simon Bolivar Square. The start point was at the “Motherland Calls” mural, and the finish was at the “Friendship Through the Ages” panel. Participants were greeted at the start by the Grenada ensemble from Moscow.

Two days earlier, a giant replica of the Victory Banner was raised on Mount Guaraira Repano, and the cable car cabins were repainted in the colors of the St. George ribbon and named “Victory Cabins.” Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro had earlier called for a wide celebration of the USSR’s victory as a triumph for all humanity.
